Innovative Interfaces NOT at MLA

When I picked up my registration packet I was surprised to note that Innovative Interfaces Inc. withdrew from the MLA exhibit. Apparently, the Innovative User's Group Annual Meeting in Denver Colorado overlapped or was too close to MLA this year for them to participate in MLA.

Personally, I think that is poor planning on the part of Innovative. They have many academic medical library users and to plan their IUG group at time that interferes with their participation at MLA really doesn't say very good things about how they value those academic medical library users.

Well, you can't really blame the planning on Innovative Interfaces. The IUG Annual Meeting is planned and coordinated by the Innovative User's Group, a wholly separate and independent organization from Innovative Interfaces. Additionally, the IUG Annual Meeting is a conference that brings together about 1,800 librarians and being so large (about 1/2 the size of the MLA Annual Conference) it's enevitable that these activities will overlap due to the limited number of venues that can host these events and the available time frame for conferences.
